About us

Nestling on the north east tip of Scotland is the town of Peterhead with a fishing heritage stretching back to the 14th Century.

It's all weather harbour and “bay of refuge” have, along with it’s long tradition of fisherman and fish processing, led it to become no.1 fishing port in Europe for white fish, pelagic (herring & mackerel) and langoustine (cold water prawn).

It's against this background that the Milne family, 5th generation of fisherman, fish merchants, fish smokers and fishmongers conduct their business with the same passion and enthusiasm as “The Trawlerman” as seen on TV stations lately.

The Milne family factory is less than 300 yards from PD fishmarket and busy retail outlet also nearby. They also supply fish to farmers market.

However in these times of recession they have decided to cut out middlemen and provide a bespoke internet fish selling business second to none. *The reason for Delishfish being created.

All fish are hand-picked on auction by family then hand filleted to the highest degree of being as skinless and boneless as possible. In today’s climate of being user friendly, fish is caught, landed, filleted skinned, smoked and or frozen all within ¼ mile of Peterhead Fishmarket within 8 hours. This I am sure makes us one of the most unique and efficient firms. These advantages of quality and saving money will be passed on to the customer.

We won’t guarantee to be the cheapest. We will guarantee to be the best at as reasonable a price as possible.

Please don’t confuse our products with cheap and cheerful imports from places like China and Russia.

Please don’t confuse our prices which will be by kilo delivered to customer, not pre-filleted weight or 700gram parcels.

We will also endeavor to meet customers’ requirements with mixed boxes. Also our sizes will be as uniform s possible. E.g. 6 to kilo as near uniform size as possible.

All fish caught and landed in Peterhead come from sustainable stock under EEC quotas, many of which are now being given MSC approval.

It is with this background that the Milne family brings Delishfish to the marketplace.

"I have personally dealt with John Milne and the Old Smoke House for over a decade. John, his Sons and Staff take great pride in the quality of fish they can offer the customer, that is why I regularly buy smoked fish from "The Old Smoke House" where I know that quality and taste will be a true eating experience.

I would recommend anybody to source their seafodd from the experts in Peterhead."

"Having seen a small piece about you in the 'Mail on Sunday', I visited your website and subsequently placed an order. The Website is very attractive and easy to use - and the confirmation of the order was immediate with a follow up email to say my order was on its way. I also received a phone call to say if the fish didn't arrive by 14:00 on Friday 1st July I should contact you in order for you to chase the delivery. The order arrived on time on Friday - and was followed by another call from you just to confirm it had been received! I have to say I was impressed - super service from placing order to delivery.

The fish ordered was halibut and hake - and the proof of the pudding would be in the eating.

So, Sunday night's dinner - halibut dipped in seasoned flour, fried in butter and olive oil, with new potatoes and asparagus. It was superb - a revelation of how fish should taste! The fillets were thick, the flesh was firm, beautifully sweet and moist - absolutely delish! I decided not to do anything clever with it - I wanted to let the fish stand alone - and it didn't disappoint in any way."
